1. Who we are

This site is operated by the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona ("AHAA", "we", "us"), which runs the Ride an Arabian program. We are responsible for the personal information described here.

2. Information you give us

When you ask to find a lesson program

Your name, email address, phone number and ZIP code; who the lessons are for and, if it is a child, their age; your riding experience; what you are interested in; and the date and time you agreed to be contacted.

When you list a lesson program

Your stable or business name, contact name, phone number, email address, city, ZIP code, how far you travel, website, minimum rider age, whether you take beginners, whether you focus on Arabians, disciplines taught, price range and lesson formats.

When you sign up for texts

We ask once, wherever you are on the site, and that one permission covers both the reminders for classes and activities you follow and occasional news about upcoming show classes and AHAA events.

We keep your mobile number; your name and email address if you choose to give them; which classes or activities you asked to follow; and a record of your consent — see section 5. Your email address is optional and is used so your People's Choice vote counts once across your phone and your laptop.

When you vote in People's Choice

Your ranked picks, and an identifier for your vote. If you have signed up for news, that identifier is your email address, so your vote counts once across your devices. If you have not, it is a random identifier created and stored in your browser, which is not linked to your name.

When you use Ask Scottie

Your questions and the answers you receive are recorded, so we can see what visitors are looking for and improve the assistant. Please do not type sensitive personal information into the chat.

3. Information collected automatically

When you visit any page, we record and keep:

• your IP address;
• browser and device information (your user agent string);
• the page that sent you here, and the first page you landed on;
• every value in the web address, including campaign tags such as utm_source, which tell us which flyer, QR code, email or ad brought you;
• a breadcrumb of the last 20 pages you visited on this site;
• the date and time we first saw you.

We use this to understand which of our efforts actually bring riders in. If you later submit a form, this record is attached to your submission.

4. Cookies and information stored in your browser

We use a small number of cookies, and store several items in your browser's local storage — including your saved phone number, which classes you follow, and your voting identifier. Our Cookie Policy lists every one of them and explains how to clear them.

5. Text messages

If you opt in to text messages, we keep your mobile number, what you asked to be alerted about, and a record of your consent — the date and time, the IP address you consented from, and which version of the consent wording you were shown. We keep that record so we can show exactly what you agreed to.

6. How we use your information

• To match you with nearby lesson programs and introduce you to them.
• To let a lesson program you listed be found by riders.
• To send the alerts and updates you asked for.
• To run the Spectator Guide, voting and Ask Scottie.
• To understand which outreach brings people to the program, and to report totals to our board and volunteers.
• To keep the site secure and working, and to meet our legal obligations.

7. Who we share it with

Lesson programs — please read this

When you ask us to find you a lesson program, we send your name, email address, phone number and ZIP code to the lesson programs you were matched with, along with what you told us you are looking for. This is the purpose of the form: those programs are meant to contact you about lessons.

Those programs are independent businesses. Once we have introduced you, how they use your details is governed by their own practices, not this policy. If you would rather not be introduced, please do not submit the form — you can browse the site freely without it.

Riders' details are never sent to a program they were not matched with. People who only signed up for texts are never passed to lesson programs.

Service providers

We use companies that process information on our behalf: our web host, Cloudflare (security and content delivery), Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Fonts and Maps), our email delivery provider, and — when the service launches — a text-message provider. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.

Other

We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights or safety of anyone. If AHAA reorganises or transfers this program, information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.

8. We do not sell your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

9. Children

This site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from them. A parent or guardian may tell us about a child — for example, a child's first name and age when asking about lessons for them — and that information is treated as described here. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

10. How long we keep it

Rider enquiries and program listings are kept for as long as the program is running and up to three years after your last contact with us, so we can measure whether it worked. Text-message subscriptions and their consent records are kept while you are subscribed and for four years after you opt out, which is the period in which a claim about messaging could be brought. Voting records and Ask Scottie logs are kept in aggregate for the show they relate to. We delete or anonymise information when we no longer need it.

11. Your choices

• Texts: reply STOP to any message.
• Email: use the unsubscribe link, or write to us.
• Access or deletion: email [email protected] and tell us what you would like. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
• Analytics: install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or clear cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
• Already introduced to a program? We can delete our copy of your details, but we cannot delete the copy already sent to that program — contact them directly.

12. California residents

If you live in California, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, why we collected it and who we shared it with; request deletion; request correction; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The categories we collect are identifiers, commercial information, internet activity and geolocation inferred from ZIP code, all described in sections 2 and 3. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, email [email protected]. You may use an authorised agent.

13. Security

We use HTTPS throughout, restrict administrative access to named accounts, and keep the site's software up to date. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed. Material changes will be highlighted on the site where practical.
